Makami Engineering Group Limited is an engineering consulting firm based in Sudbury and we provide the bulk of our services to industrial clients in Northern Ontario. We have a full compliment of structural, mechanical and electrical engineers and designers capable of handling projects in the industrial, commercial and transportation fields. We currently have an opening in our Sudbury office for a full-time:
SENIOR OR INTERMEDIATE MECHANICAL ENGINEER
What this position entails:
- Developing and managing a mechanical design team consisting of other Professional Engineers, designers, and support staff
- Developing business relationships with new clients
- Mentoring EIT’s as required
- Travelling to various client sites, attending project meetings and conducting field reviews
- Formulating and developing advanced techniques and concepts in Mechanical Engineering
- Developing conceptual designs, preliminary designs and detailed designs deliverables including calculations, layouts and sketches, drawings, technical specifications etc.
- Performing design review or design verification on technical documents prepared by others
- Ensuring quality and consistency, accuracy, and completeness of engineering deliverables
- Having the ability to work with a minimum of instructions, making decisions independently and taking responsibility on technical matters
- Complying with applicable QA procedures and be responsible for producing quality work
- Assigning tasks to technicians and designers as well as supporting staff and revising their work.
- Managing projects (delivering on-time and on-budget)
What we’re looking for in a candidate:
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in good standing
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university/college
- 5 to 15 years of mechanical design experience preferably in the industrial and/or mining sectors
- Must be able to attend industrial sites and observe all applicable safety regulations
- Proven ability to collaborate with team members in a multi-disciplined environment
- Must be able to work on multiple projects at any given time and manage workloads according to resources available, deadlines, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programs
